Our policy platform includes everything an early childhood education centre needs to meet the licensing criteria.

Governance, Management, and Administration

Sets out processes and systems to show how your service is governed effectively and managed according to legal requirements, Ministry of Education guidance, and good practice. 

Includes policies on Te Tiriti, Concerns and Complaints, and Privacy and Confidentiality, as well as space for your centre’s unique values and philosophy. ​  Also covers parent involvement and information and supports strong relationships with parents and whānau.  

Curriculum and Learning

Covers how you plan, assess, and report on learning—aligned with Te Whāriki. Includes inclusive education, social and emotional competence, how you share updates on children with whānau.  

Employment

Everything for a safe, supportive workplace—recruitment, conduct, wellbeing, induction and training, leave, and professional growth. 

Finance

Policies that cover financial reporting and record keeping, providing information the Ministry, financial controls, income and expenditure, and fraud and theft.

Health and Safety

From hazard registers and risk management to emergency procedures, lockdowns, and first aid requirements and practices – this section takes care of the health and safety of everyone at the centre.

We’re expecting changes to licensing criteria early next year. When these are released, our team will update the relevant policies – so you stay aligned without scrambling to rewrite anything. You’ll receive clear guidance and action steps when updates are made so you stay compliant.
